About

Valri Peyser

Valri Peyser has been immersed in the world of art throughout her life, with parents and relatives who are working artists. She is primarily self-taught with family instruction. Her formal instruction includes two years in private study (300 hours studio work) with Lynn Zachreson from 1998-2000. She has participated in Open Studios for 4 years and shows her work year-round in various businesses in Santa Cruz County. Her work is also on display in the Copper Country Gallery in Calumet Michigan.

Valri’s work focuses mainly on portraits of people that are both real and imaginary. She uses this figurative work to explore the universal feminine essence influenced by Pop Culture. Many of her works hint at self-portraiture and are drawn from personal life experiences.

Valri's preferred medium to work with is oil. She always paints in vivid colors and does use acrylics at times when developing color relationships. She also paints on glass and has an ongoing commission with Hallcrest Vineyards to develop artwork for their winery.

She lives in Santa Cruz with her husband and four boys. Her paintings express the sense of humor that is in harmony with how she likes to lead her life.

Background

I grew up immersed in the world of art, with parents and relatives who are working artists. I was primarily self-taught with family instruction. My formal instruction includes two years of private study (300 hours studio work) with Lynn Zachreson from 1998-2000.

I have an ongoing commission with Hallcrest Vineyards to develop artwork for their winery. The commissioned work was featured in the Los Altos Town Crier and I have an ongoing show in the Hallcrest Tasting Room. I'm also an Open Studios artist with the Santa Cruz Cultural Council.
